Books for the season
I'd like to reccomend a great book fot this Christmas season. It's called Treasuring God in our Traditions by Noel Piper. It's an amazing book on how how to keep Jesus the center of all we do in small, ordianry traditions to big eventful ones like Christmas. She shows an intimate look inside the Piper family and their precious traditions. It's loaded with great ideas for family worship, birthdays, bedtime, holidays and so on. She even throws in a few of their own family recipes like breakfast cake and spaghetti. I got this book last year but I have been breaking it out lately since the time for big traditions is upon us! I'm also reading a biography on Susannah Spurgeon. It's called Mrs. C.H. Spurgeon by Charles Ray. It's a really easy read and has few picures of their home and children. It's a great book and has greatly encouraged me as she is so frank about being a wife to man in ministry. She also has a book called Free Grace and Undying Love which is a 2 part book. The first part is a devotional (i think 30 days) which are exerpts from her journals and the second half is a short version of their love story. I love this book. She writes like a female Spurgeon. Just rich in truth! Anyhoo, just wanted to share these little gems with everyone. You can find all of these books at Evangelical Bookstore in North Park. Thee best bookstore in town!!! Merry Christmas!!
